The Liturgy of the Hours is the prayer of the Church to Christ and with Christ. In it, Christ himself continues to exercise his priestly office. The Liturgy of the Hours, which has the characteristic of sanctifying the entire course of the day and night, includes: the Office of Readings, Morning Prayer, Midday Prayer, Evening Prayer, and Night Prayer. An essential component of the Liturgy of the Hours is the prayer of the Psalms.
The CEI - LITURGY of the HOURS App is the result of collaboration between several Offices of the General Secretariat of the Italian Episcopal Conference and the Archdiocese of Milan. It offers a tool for personal liturgical prayer in both the Roman and Ambrosian rites to all those who wish to join in the Church's praise through the Divine Office but are unable to participate in community celebrations.
It is the first APP to offer, in addition to the official text of the Liturgy of the Hours by the Italian Episcopal Conference, audio versions of the various prayers throughout the day. The audio support will be particularly useful for visually impaired individuals.
The CEI - LITURGY of the HOURS app also includes a completely redesigned modern graphic layout, along with features for reading, navigation, search, and a new audio player. It allows users to conveniently add bookmarks and personal annotations to archive and carry them at all times, as well as share them in various ways. The app also allows for saving a liturgical day for offline access to text and audio.
